Jacqueline Fernandez was born in Manama and raised by an ethnically diverse, multiracial family. Her father Elroy Fernandez comes originally from Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is a Malaysian. Jacqueline has two older brothers and a younger sister. In the 80s, her parents emigrated to Bahrain in protest against the civil war over Sri Lanka. In the end, she was both born and raised in the country. In Australia she was enrolled in Media and Communications at University of Sydney after completing her studies in Bahrain. She went to an institute called the Berlitz School of Languages that helped her learn French, Arabic and Spanish. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 was title in the month of March, 2006; she also took part in Miss Universe 2006 In the aftermath of winning the Miss Sri Lanka title in 2006, she took on the world of TV and hosted a program on Sri Lanka's business called Lanka Business Report. Padukone (the mother of the badminton players Prakash Padukone) was born and grew up in Bangalore. As a teenager, she played in national level badminton competitions, but quit playing and went on to become a designer. Padukone is of Mangalorean roots and speaks Konkani as her mother tongue. Padukone, a village situated in Kundapura Taluk located in Udupi located in Karnataka State, India, is where her family is derived from. His father, Prakash Padukone, is an old badminton player who is of international repute, and her mother is a travel agent.
